Deb ABD 2012

Welcome to the Australian Bowls Directory website.

What an amazing year 2011 was. Australian saw some of the biggest natural disasters ever experienced over many parts of the  country. Many of our clubs and bowlers were affected by these devastating floods and bushfires in January. By now thankfully most clubs are back up and running thanks to help from a large army of willing workers.

On a brighter note I have once again been travelling all over the countryside visiting old and new clubs and finding data for the next edition of the Bowls Directory. The highlight of the year would have to go to the official opening of the new Mandurah Bowling & Recreation Club in April 2011. What a wonderful complex.  I can definitely recommend the travelling bowler adds this venue to their travel.

The newest “Travel Destination” to be added to the Australian Bowls Directory is the beautiful Lord Howe Island. Come visit and have a game of bowls and join the members as they celebrate their 90th Anniversary year. Great place, great fun.

For the readers among us check out Kelvin Kerkow’s “Rolled Gold” and my latest book “Mandurah Bowling & Recreation Club” souvenir copy.

The Top End Carnival once again proved to be another highlight of the year. A big thanks to John for his wonderful hospitality. I love Darwin and you will find some great things to see and do when you visit this part of the country.

The 2011 US Open trip was well supported by bowlers from all over Australia. Details on the 2012 trip can be found in the US Open feature on this website or full details start on Page 118 of the 2012 Australian Bowls Directory.

Keep smiling and I will catch you somewhere down the track for a game.
